Joanne Howarth, CEO of Planet Protector Packaging and CEO of APCO, Brooke Donnelly appeared on a recent ABC News segment covering the phasing out of expanded polystyrene.

The report highlighted the use of polystyrene in packaging, and moves being made by businesses to shift away from it. Officeworks, an APCO member, was cited as an example of a company that has sought alternative solutions in the form of cardboard for product protection during shipping.

On the subject of alternative solutions, Joanne Howarth was given the opportunity to explain its flagship product Woolpack,  by now well known to PKN readers. Her company, also an APCO member and currently in the throes of a crowdfunding campaign, is manufacturing a waste-wool based solution for insulated shipping containers.

Called on to speak to the change happening in the packaging industry, Brooke Donnelly expressed her confidence that the industry will meet the phasing out targets.
