Unpacking the opportunity that is packaging print: the Print21 + PKN LIVE annual conference for the packaging print community will take place on 12 August in Sydney. With strong industry support and a stellar line-up of speakers and panellists, the event is shaping up to be a calendar highlight this year.
Early Bird tickets are on sale now for the New Frontiers in Packaging Print 2019 forum, which will take place at Monkey Baa Theatre, Darling Harbour on Monday 12 August.
The speaker line-up confirmed so far includes some of the industry's leading lights in the packaging and print arenas. The day will see speakers and panellists explore developments in packaging print design and technology that are helping brands push boundaries in consumer engagement, and deliver brand protection and sustainable packaging solutions.
The audience will include a mix of brand owners and managers, pack and brand designers, packaging and label converters and printers, commercial printers considering the packaging opportunity, and printing technology suppliers.
Following the successful inaugural LIVE packaging print conference last year, headline sponsors HP and Currie Group, and gold sponsors Matthews, Kodak, APPMA and Spicers, have come on board with enthusiasm. A deep-dive into consumer and design trends will set the big-picture context, with top creatives Annette Harcus of Harcus Design and Mikey Hart of Hulsbosch sharing their insights on design directions informing brand owners' packaging choices and print executions. Steve Jackson, executive director of Schawk will also weigh in on this topic, exploring colour and other design parameters.
Campbell Arnott's director of Packaging Asia Pacific, Liza Vernalls, will discuss how this iconic brand owner is increasingly using the printed pack to build brand engagement, with case studies of recently launched products sporting special print executions.
With the event themed 'new frontiers in packaging print', digital print will feature quite prominently. We'll hear from Jessica Simes, co-owner of Brewtopia, how this e-commerce drinks business is delivering an end-to-end solution for personalised beverages. Digital printing is integral to the process, and Simes, who is also the recently appointed head of marketing at Labelmakers, will explain how the two companies are partnering to expand the scope of their respective market offering.
Of course, you can't talk packaging print without talking sustainability. A panel of industry leaders will share how their companies are making strides in implementing sustainability initiatives in their own businesses and enabling their customers to do so too. We'll hear from Aleks Lajovic, managing director of Impact International; Jack Malki, director of Jet Technologies; and Fred Soar, managing director of Soar Print.
Brand protection is a hot button issue for Australian brand owners, especially those exporting products to Asian markets.
