AIP Sustainable Packaging Design Principles training course

Sustainable Design Training course offered alongside ProPak Philippines.

The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will be heading back to ProPak Philippines to run a training course on Sustainable Packaging design principles and how all sized businesses can embed them into their design processes. The course will be held at the WorldTrade Centre Metro Manila on the 2nd of February 2023 and is open to all to attend no matter how small or large your business is.

The ‘How to embed Sustainable Packaging Design Principles in your business’ Training course will enable companies to deep-dive into their existing and new packaging development processes to ensure that the business is reducing the environmental footprint of all packaging where possible, and at the same time meeting global and local packaging and waste targets.

The Sustainable Packaging Guidelines (SPGs) have been established to assist the design and manufacture of packaging that meets the sometimes conflicting demands of the market, consumer protection and the environment. Sustainable Packaging ultimately ensures that the design provides the lowest possible environmental impact compared to existing or conventional packaging. Sometimes achieving the lowest possible environmental impact can be challenging, particularly when balancing various environmental criteria with other functional and commercial considerations.

The training course will work through 10 Sustainable Packaging Principles that have been developed with the highest priority principles being those that support the achievement of the four targets, i.e. design for recovery, design for efficiency, using recycled materials and design to minimise litter.

Through homework exercises and interactive components attendees will learn to successfully integrate these principles through design and procurement practices to achieve the optimal outcomes for packaging functionality, and to collectively work to meet global and local  packaging and waste targets.

This course is ideal for anyone who uses packaging in their business - from primary to secondary through to tertiary - who is wanting to move towards more sustainable alternatives.
