Entries have now closed for the 2026 PKN Women in Packaging Awards, with a strong and highly competitive field emerging across the program.

Following a preliminary review of entries, PKN can report that the new Rising Star category has made an impressive debut, attracting a high level of interest and signalling growing momentum among emerging talent in the sector. Established categories also performed well, with Sustainability Leader once again drawing solid engagement, alongside a notable lift in Manufacturing Leader entries. Packaging Technology Leader, STEM Explorer, Communications & Marketing Excellence, and Design & Branding Excellence all held steady with competitive fields.

Encouragingly, a solid number of entrants put themselves forward through self-nomination, reflecting increasing confidence and visibility among women across the packaging value chain.

Lindy Hughson, managing editor & publisher of PKN Packaging News, said the strength and depth of entries this year was a positive sign for the industry.

“We’re delighted with the response to this year’s awards. The calibre of entries is once again exceptional, and it’s particularly pleasing to see such strong engagement in the new Rising Star category, alongside continued interest in sustainability and manufacturing leadership,” Hughson said.

“It’s also encouraging to see more women backing themselves and stepping forward through self-nomination. That confidence is exactly what these awards are designed to support and celebrate.”

Judging will commence next week, with the expert panel set to assess what is expected to be a highly competitive field. Finalists are scheduled to be announced online by 5 May and will also be featured in the Q2 June print issue of PKN.

The awards presentation will take place at a cocktail event on Thursday evening, 25 June, at Quarterhouse, 693 Collins Street, Docklands, Melbourne. All of industry is welcome. Tickets are available here. Book soon as space is limited.

PKN extends its thanks to all sponsors and partners for their ongoing support of the awards program and its mission to recognise and elevate women across the packaging industry.
