PKN talks... integrating sustainable packaging into luxury goods.

In this episode, Lindy Hughson, managing editor and publisher of PKN Packaging News talks to Robert Lockyer, founder and chief client officer of Delta Global, about designing sustainable packaging for luxury goods.

Robert starts by walking us through the process of founding Delta Global, how he overcame the challenges of launching a business from the bottom up, and grew it to the size it is today.

We then get an overview of Delta Global and Inspiring-i’s collaborative report ‘Navigating a Greener Future’, with key insights into consumer behaviours in Australia and the Asia Pacific region, their major focus on sustainable packaging, and how they compare to US and European consumers.

The discussion also explores the increased adoption of pre-loved goods, the importance of packaging design that ensures kerbside recycling, and how excess packaging can deter consumers from luxury goods.

Throughout the session, we review the increased integration of sustainable packaging in the luxury goods market, how businesses can communicate their sustainability initiatives to their consumers, and how the design stages balance consumers' environmental and premium expectations.

We wrap up with some advice for others who are eager to integrate sustainability into their luxury goods stream.

It appears Australia may get pretty close to its target to halve food waste by 2030, it could even make it, but the efforts are monumental from farmer to consumer. And it’s not like there are no other pressing issues on every part of our food system. So, what is it going to take?

The launch of Petrifilm Plates in 1984 was an advancement for microbial testing in the food industry. Neogen technical product specialist, Diana Pregonero Guzman, reflects on its impact and the ongoing evolution of food safety technology.

A $40m investment in soft plastics recycling will see the construction of a new processing facility in South Australia at Recycling Plastics Australia’s Kilburn premises, with the application of proprietary technology supplied by PreOne.
