Procter and Gamble (P&G) has teamed up with TerraCycle to give away five recycled outdoor classrooms in a national competition.

P&G brands Fairy and Ambi Pur are eligible for the contest in Woolworths supermarkets, and customers who scan their rewards cards with a Fairy or Ambi Pur purchase will go in the draw to win their nominated school an outdoor classroom made from recycled material.

According to Vivek Gupta, the contest encourages outdoor learning, demonstrates how recycled materials can be turned into new products, and promotes P&G and TerraCycle’s Dish and Air Care Recycling Program.

“P&G is committed to not only designing superior products, but also to making a positive difference and encouraging responsible consumption of our brands.

“We are proud to introduce a solution that makes not only Fairy and Ambi Pur but all brands of dish care and air care packaging one hundred per cent recyclable in Australia,” said Gupta.

The Dish and Air Care Recycling Program sees TerraCycle gather products such as dishwashing liquid bottles and caps, and aerosol air freshener cans, to be transformed into material as an alternative to virgin plastic. According to Jean Bailliard, General Manager of TerraCycle Australia and New Zealand, Terra Cycle’s mission is to “eliminate the idea of waste”.

“This means shifting our thinking towards viewing waste as a resource, not as garbage. We’re excited to provide such a unique prize that truly embodies the ‘trash-to-treasure’ concept,” said Bailliard.

The competition ends on 28 May.
