Australia’s leading operator of container refund points Return-It has announced Alby Taylor as its new CEO. 

Taylor’s previous roles included chair and director of Container Exchange in Queensland and general manager of the Australian Beverages Council.

Managing director of Re.Group David Singh said Taylor’s deep understanding of beverage container schemes would help grow Return-It’s capacity to deliver as is customer base expanded.

Return-It is an Australian company that has partnered with a wide range of social enterprise partners to deliver a modern approach to container refund services. Return-It has over 100 refund point locations across Australia, making it the nation’s biggest operator of depots where customers can receive immediate cash refunds for eligible containers.

Taylor said: “After watching the way Return-It approached the development of its business and how it has continued to grow from strength to strength, I am thrilled to be joining the team. It is an exciting time for Return-It, especially as we move toward the launch of the Western Australia CDS on 1 October this year and we look forward to the development of new schemes in New Zealand, Tasmania and Victoria where Return-It looks forward to making a significant contribution.”

One of Queensland’s largest vegetable farming and production companies, Kalfresh, has received a joint $80 million investment from the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) and Wollemi Capital to build Australia’s first integrated food and energy precinct.

New research from RMIT University suggests saltbush could help food manufacturers improve protein quality and reduce the reliance on added salt in staple foods. The drought-tolerant shrub has been used as bush tucker by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years.

The Brewers Association of Australia CEO, Amanda Watson, has stepped down from the role. Watson, who became CEO in July 2025, said she was pursuing a different career direction.
