Communities across NSW have been rewarded with millions of dollars for their recycling efforts, in the Cash 4 Cans Bucks 4 Bottles initiative.

Recycling efforts to deposit over 160 million containers at Cash 4 Cans Bucks 4 Bottles sites in Blacktown, Coffs, Newscastle, and Prestons have led to over $16 million in community refunds.

Each depot is manned with a high-speed automated counter and conveyor system

“If you stacked all the containers end to end, it would be more than enough to reach from the North Pole to the South Pole, that’s 20,480km long,” said Luke Parker, CEO at Cash 4 Cans Bucks 4 Bottles.

Announced during last week's National Recycling Week, the Cash 4 Cans Bucks 4 Bottles $16m community refunds at container return sites comprise:

  • $7.5m plus: Blacktown
  • $5.9m plus: Coffs Harbour
  • $2m plus: Newcastle
  • $1.3 plus: Prestons

The containers dropped at the sites contain cans, bottles and cartons. Each of the four depots is manned with high-speed automated counters and conveyor systems which allow for quick and efficient sorting of container deposits. Customers can return and earn immediately with on the spot cashback, or they can use Drop and Go, a drop off service where containers are sorted, and funds transferred.
