FoodChain ID and Unpac are working together on an exclusive strategic alliance focused on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance for food and beverage brands.

The partnership centres on an integrated EPR compliance offering that combines Unpac’s software for packaging data and reporting with FoodChain ID’s regulatory compliance services. The companies say the solution is designed to streamline packaging data collection, automate reporting across jurisdictions and provide insights for procurement, packaging design and sustainability teams.

Marc Losito, vp of regulatory solutions at FoodChain ID, said, “Together, we’re eliminating the friction from EPR compliance and giving brands a smarter way to reduce risk, meet regulatory deadlines and find savings in their packaging data. This partnership isn’t just about EPR reporting, it’s about helping our customers future-proof their packaging strategy with defensible data and intelligent tools.”

Lee Lubner, ceo of Unpac, said, “We built Unpac to make packaging data actionable, to turn compliance into measurable business value. Our mission is to help brands unlock the power of their packaging data with automation, accuracy and intelligence.”

According to the companies, the joint offering includes multi-jurisdiction EPR reporting, automated data validation and gap analysis, and eco-modulation simulations. They say the system can reduce manual effort by up to 80 per cent and EPR-related fees by more than 20 per cent, with packaging cost savings of 10–20 per cent, based on FoodChain ID’s reviews.

The partnership comes as EPR laws are active in seven US states, with legislative drafts in 10 more, increasing reporting and compliance requirements for packaging.

FoodChain ID said it supports more than 30,000 companies globally with services including regulatory compliance, food safety certification and testing. Unpac describes itself as a cloud-based platform focused on packaging data management for EPR compliance.

A blend of salt, red wine vinegar, and water – known as Posca – was the ‘original sports drink’, helping to keep the soldiers of the Roman Empire marching up to 30 kilometres per day.
