The European Tube Manufacturers Association (etma) presented the winners of its Tube of the Year Award 2025 during its Annual Meeting on 21 May in Nice, France.

A seven-member jury selected winners across five categories: aluminium, plastic, laminate tubes, prototypes, and sustainability.

Austrian producer TUBEX Aluminium Tubes received the aluminium category award for a refillable tube created with Caudalie. Made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium, including 95 per cent post-consumer material, the tube avoids plastic caps and allows users to refill by breaking off and later resealing the nozzle. A matte soft-touch lacquer finishes the design.

Plastics tube category winner: French manufacturer Albea Tubes

Albéa Tubes of France led the plastics category with its EcoFusion Top 50ml tube for ETAT PUR’s relaunched 'Pure Skincare' line. Constructed entirely from recyclable HDPE mono-material, it uses a 350 µm thin-wall sleeve. Compared to the previous packaging, this design reduces plastic use by over half. Its appearance reflects the brand’s minimal, clean-beauty aesthetic.

EPL Europe’s Platina laminate tube won the laminate tubes award. Used in POMELO+CO’s Molecular Repair products, the RecyClass-certified tube (300 µm) is designed for recyclability and decorated with silver embossing, gloss lacquer and a matte finish. A translucent white flip-top cap completes the look.

In the prototypes category, Italian firm Global Tube was recognised for a PBL tube that includes a tamper-evident flip-top, matte surface, and a combination of print techniques. A standout feature is a lacquer with rose-scented microcapsules that release fragrance on touch.

The sustainability category went to Linhardt (Germany) for its Cien Sun Care range. These tubes, available at Lidl in the UK and Spain, are made using 100 per cent PCR material for both the tube and its newly developed TopTube closure, which is significantly lighter than standard alternatives.

etma’s new secretary general, Seifeldin Raslan Mohamed, elected during the meeting, said, “Our competition once again demonstrates the central role that the European tube industry, and especially our members, plays in developing sustainable and resource-efficient packaging solutions. I am particularly pleased that, alongside recyclable design, other developments such as new product ideas, creative design concepts, and exciting technical innovations are also receiving attention.”
