Supply chain solutions company CHEP Australia has been ranked in the top five per cent of all suppliers assessed for their sustainability.

Independent agency EcoVadis awarded the Gold Level to CHEP Australia for its approach to environmental management, labour and fair business practices, and its sustainable procurement of strategic materials.

The agency assesses ethical, social and environmental risks of their customers’ supplier base and its methodology is built on international Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000, covering 150 spend categories and 140 countries.

EcoVadis assesses 35,000 suppliers from 99 countries across 150 business sectors.

CHEP is part of ASX-listed global supply chain solutions company Brambles Limited, which was ranked in the top position in its global category (Commercial Services and Supplies) on the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

Brambles is also one of only six companies to be placed on the 2017 Global Forests A List by CDP, the non-profit environmental disclosure platform which recognises global leaders in combating deforestation.

These recognitions are the result of Brambles implementing the circular economy, at a global scale.

Lachlan Feggans, CHEP’s senior manager of sustainability for the Asia Pacific region, says CHEP is a sustainable business, and has the scale and expertise to help customers generate efficiencies in their supply chains and hit their sustainability targets.
