Pac Food’s PP/EVOH lined sugarcane trays have been approved by the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) as recyclable without needing to remove the lining. This makes the trays a sustainable choice for meal packaging.

These trays are made for durability, extended shelf life, and compatibility with skin sealing. They can be recycled through kerbside systems, which Pac Food says “revolutionises the meal market by combining convenience with environmental responsibility.”

According to Pac Food, these trays can withstand temperatures from -40°C to 200°C, making them suitable for freezers, microwaves, and ovens. They remain intact when frozen, avoiding cracks or shattering.

A tab on the lining allows for easy removal, adding to user convenience. Pac Food offers custom tray designs for businesses with specific packaging needs, subject to minimum order quantities.

The trays work with various lidding films, including high-barrier, low-barrier, and skin-sealing applications. They are designed to prevent sogginess, ensuring food stays fresh. Pac Food says the trays are ideal for food service, airline catering, and ready-meal production.

The company also notes that these trays are cost-effective compared to traditional CPET alternatives, providing a sustainable and durable solution without sacrificing quality.

The lined sugarcane trays meet APCO’s recyclability criteria with the lining still in place, and there is also a fully compostable option available for zero-waste solutions.
