Avery Dennison’s AD CleanFlake technology has received RecyClass Technology Approval for the PET recycling stream. The technology had previously received approval for HDPE in October 2024.

The approval confirms AD CleanFlake labels release cleanly from PET flakes during recycling, giving brand owners and converters confidence their label solutions meet recycling requirements. Avery Dennison is demonstrating the technology this week at Labelexpo in Barcelona, showing its compatibility with both PET and HDPE.

Brand owners using AD CleanFlake can now certify their packaging with the potential for an A-class rating, which may help them comply with PPWR regulations and potentially reduce Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees.

AD CleanFlake was first developed 10 years ago to support recycling of rigid plastic packaging. The technology is recognised by the European Pet Bottle Platform (EPBP), Institut Cyclos-HTP, the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), and now RecyClass.
