PACK EXPO International 2024 is set for 3 – 6 November at McCormick Place, Chicago, featuring 2700 exhibitors in 1.3 million square feet of exhibition space.

Organised by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, the event will showcase developments in packaging and processing technologies, focusing on sustainability and integrated solutions.

Sustainability and New Pavilions
This year’s show introduces Sustainability Central (Booth W-21020), which will highlight advances in sustainable manufacturing and offer discussions on eco-friendly solutions. Another new addition, Emerging Brands Central (Booth W-20049), will connect growing companies with industry experts to share insights on product development, packaging innovations, and scaling strategies.

According to Laura Thompson, vice president, trade shows, PMMI, "PACK EXPO International 2024 will offer solutions across industries with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration."

Dedicated Packaging Spaces and Zones
Returning features include several pavilions and zones aimed at specific industry needs:

  • Containers and Materials Pavilion (West Hall): Spotlights materials and containers for sustainable packaging.
  • Reusable Packaging Pavilion (Booth LU-6737): Offers insights into reusable packaging solutions.
  • Healthcare Packaging Pavilion (West Hall): Displays innovations in pharmaceutical and medical packaging.
  • PACKage Printing Pavilion (South Hall): Focuses on digital printing technologies for customised, on-demand packaging.
  • Processing Zone (Lakeside Center): Features integrated processing systems to enhance efficiency and safety.

The event also expands its Logistics Pavilion (North Hall) to cover developments across warehousing, distribution, and transportation, addressing challenges in the e-commerce supply chain.

Education and Networking Opportunities
Attendees will have access to 150 educational sessions on topics including sustainability, food safety, and operational efficiency. Key learning spaces include the Innovation Stage, Processing Innovation Stage, and the Reusable Packaging Learning Center.

In addition, networking events will connect professionals across the industry, such as the PACK gives BACK event on 4 November, featuring a performance by comedian Nate Bargatze, and the Packaging & Processing Women’s Leadership Network (PPWLN) Breakfast on 5 November.

Student Engagement Initiatives
The show offers several programs to engage students, including the PACK Challenge, sponsored by PepsiCo, and the Future Innovators Robotics Showcase. Local Girl Scouts will participate in a sustainable packaging project, while PMMI will host resume and interview workshops to support students pursuing careers in packaging.

Technology Excellence Awards
The show will introduce the Technology Excellence Awards, recognising new and innovative solutions not previously showcased. Voting begins 28 October, with winners announced during the event.
