JMP Engineering scooped the pool at the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) Awards of Excellence, announced last night at a function following the day’s activity at the AUSPACK PLUS show.

JMP took out three awards from the six announced on the night, capping a successful show for the Victorian robotics, palletising and stretch wrapping specialist.

The company was named the winner of the Export Achievement Award for its corner board applicator and stretch wrapping system, the Customer Participation Awards for its automated palletising and stretch wrapping system for Pepsico Group and the Export Achievement Award for its Kawasaki-manufactured and supplied robots integrated with its turnkey solutions.

JMP’s sales engineering manager Bill Saylav collected the company’s awards on behalf of general manager Paul Vassallo, who could not attend due to illness.

Other winners on the night were Queensland’s Fibre King, which picked up the Design Award for its RPG GS case erector, Amcor Fibre Packaging engineer Jamie Schellebeck, who won the 2013 APPMA Scholarship to further his education with an AIP Diploma in Packaging Technology, and Machinery Automation and Robotics, which won the Best New Product Award, sponsored by PKN, for its MAR Singulator.

Sponsored by PKN, Midway Metals, DB Schenker and SMC, the biennial awards are designed to recognise innovative and outstanding packaging and processing solutions.

“Companies that enter these biennial awards are recognised for their contribution and outstanding achievements against their peers within the wider packaging industry and we encourage everyone to enter,” the chairman of the APPMA, Mark Dingley, said.
