Food processing and packaging company tna has appointed Jonathan Rankin to the role of chief sales officer (CSO).

The former employee has returned to the company to head up tna’s global sales division and support customers as the company branches out into new applications and industry sectors.

Based out of tna’s Sydney office, he will be responsible for providing leadership and structure to the sales team.

CEO Alf Taylor said Rankin knows how to motivate people through empowerment, which is important for building close, personal customer relationships.

"He played a key role in our global expansion throughout the '90s, and I have no doubt his innovative and results-driven mindset will shape the future of our business as we embark on the next step of our journey," he said.

Rankin held various global management roles at tna between 1993 and 2003, and most recently served as general manager for food processing company Marel, where he grew the company’s Oceania operations.

Since 2003, tna has expanded its global customer support network with new offices in Asia, South America, the Middle East, Central and Southern Europe and since 2017, Russia, Japan and China. It has also acquired food processing companies FOODesign and Florigo and, more recently, confectionery company NID.

Food & Drink Business

The International Alliance for Responsible Drinking has accelerated its plans to reduce harmful drinking – partnering leading global beer, wine and spirits producers with advertising, public relations, and influencer agencies to ensure alcohol marketing is clearly recognised, responsibly advertised, and aimed at an audience over the legal purchase age.

A new online store, Just a Crumb, has launched to support Australian bakeries in reducing food waste – offering consumers cake offcuts and leftover treats that might otherwise go to waste, delivered to the door.

As the Australian functional beverage market continues to grow, emerging companies are still finding places to slot in. Alcohol recovery drink, Dodge, hit stores in mid-2022, and has taken off across the Asia-Pacific region with its science-backed formula and striking branding. Food & Drink Business spoke with co-founder, Braeden Leahy, about the product and plans for the future.
