Victoria University has a big act to follow. At last year’s IAPRI World Packaging Conference, a record 170 delegates from 24 countries were represented. There were 93 presentations for the oral and poster categories, produced by some of the leading national and international packaging researchers from industry and academia on 11 topic areas, which ranged from packaging for food and agricultural products to packaging for hazardous and dangerous goods.

But you see, Victoria Uni has an advantage. It is hosting the conference for the second time. It aims to attract approximately 200 delegates, with more than 100 scientific papers presented.

This year’s keynote speakers include, Nina Cleeve-Edwards, packaging specialist, Nestlé Australia, who will discuss Packaging paradoxes: laminating perception and reality.

Cleeve-Edwards is responsible for the innovation, design, safety, compliance, and environmental performance of Nestlé Oceania's packaging. She commenced in the packaging field in 2006 and completed the Packaging Diploma course from the Institute of Packaging UK in 2008. She spent four years based in the Nestlé Research Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she was an Ecodesign Specialist and rolled out a packaging ecodesign tool throughout the company and performed research on bioplastic applications for Nestlé packaging. She has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.

Food & Drink Business

A lot of food and beverage brands look strong when they’re small. They have one product, one pack, one clear idea and then they grow. That’s usually when things start to unravel, not all at once, but quickly enough to matter. The Creative Method founder and creative director, Tony Ibbotson, explains why – and growth is not the problem.

Victorian-based Aquafab has completed a $620,000 Series A raise through Birchal, supported by over 300 investors. The company told Food & Drink Business that the funds will support continued national growth and plans in place to enter the US and UK markets this year.

Rumin8 is accelerating its methane reducing feed additive commercialisation progress in New Zealand, garnering $4.4 million (US$3 million) in investment as the company prepares to enter the final trial process.
