New beverage brand Shine+ went from idea to shelf in 5 months, and has since has scaled up and rolled out nationally.

At our annual industry forum, Food & Drink Business + PKN LIVE on 22 August in Sydney, Stephen Chapman, CEO and co-founder of Shine Drink will tell the story of Australia's first smart drink, Shine+.

Shine+ is a smart drink that fits neatly into the functional beverage category, one of the fastest growing segments in the beverage industry. It comes in a distinctive 110ml glass bottle, and is sold in counter-top packs of 12.

According to Chapman, the Shine + formulation “addresses the growing consumer demand for getting a health benefit from a beverage, as well as a possible solution to the universal problem of mental fatigue.”

Speaking to the theme of “doing business in the year that we live in”, Chapman will talk about designing Shine's marketing and brand strategies to resonate with its target market, about key learnings when moving fast from pilot phase to national roll-out, and about leveraging social media as an inexpensive platform for engaging consumers.

Chapman is no stranger to the start-up game. His first start-up was a social-commerce platform and app. It was featured as one of Apple's Top Lifestyle Apps and Chapman was featured in The Australian, BRW and recognised as one of Australia's Top 25 Entrepreneurs Under 25 by StartupSmart in 2013.

He started Shine Drink with BRW Young Rich-Lister and serial entrepreneur Dr Sam Prince.

Slated for the Taste of Tomorrow session at LIVE, Chapman will join other entrepreneurs and company founders, including Troy Douglas of Nexba Naturally Brave; Monica Meldrum of Whole Kids and Tamara Trentain of FivePointFour, who will present the game-changing strategies they've adopted to grow their businesses and shape the industries they operate in.
