Branding agency Saltmine Design Group has looked globally for its latest staff recruits to its Sydney-based office.

Pedro Mérida joins the team as a senior designer, bringing to the agency the experience of more than eight years working in Spain across brand and packaging design, advertising and promotional communication as well as interactive design for such clients as Heineken, Lindt, L’Oréal and Schweppes.

He will be joined by Thom Kirwan, a six-year veteran of the design industry in the UK across such areas as brand design, point-of-sale projects, photography and project management. His previous clients include such major companies as McDonalds, Dulux, Boots and Aldi.

“We are excited to welcome both Pedro and Thom to our expanding team. Their international experience and knowledge of global trends will be an invaluable asset to the agency and our clients,” Saltmine managing director, Sara Salter, said.

She said the new recruits will also help the agency service its growing client base, which has recently picked up new business from the likes of Danone, George Weston Foods and Toby's Estate.

The appointments cap off a successful year for the agency, which saw it win PKN's Shelf Shout Awardf for Best Brand Refresh for its Nestlé Purina Petcare Supercoat masterbranding design, as well as two silver medals at this year's Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) awards.
