Industrial printing solution specialist Intermec has launched a new family of label printers in the Australian and New Zealand markets targeting mission critical applications.

The company's PM23c is an all-metal barcode label printer for such markets and applications as product labelling and food traceability, as well as airline passenger services, manufacturing, and retail.

“The rugged nature of the PM23c makes it perfect for environments that require small durable printing solutions,” Intermec’s printer and scanner channel business manager in ANZ, Rick Newman, said.

“The PM23c also offers our customers a lower total cost of ownership and maximised up-time because of the user replaceable parts, such as the print heads or platen roller, which are the two most common failure parts on any barcode printer.”

The PM23c joins the company's existing PM43 and PM43c models, which all feature full colour touch-screen controls featuring as well as radio frequency identification (RFID), WiFi and Cisco-compatible (CCX) certifications and optional Bluetooth connectivity.

Newman said the enhanced features of the PM23c model enables it to maximise uptime and reduce frequent media handling via precision print, which means it can easily print small barcodes, text and images with pinpoint accuracy.

He said that according to research, enterprises are seeking compact printers that deliver the print precision, quality and speed needed for industrial printing jobs, while working seamlessly with other peripheral industrial technologies.

A blend of salt, red wine vinegar, and water – known as Posca – was the ‘original sports drink’, helping to keep the soldiers of the Roman Empire marching up to 30 kilometres per day. Keira Joyce spoke with Posca Hydrate co-founders, Merrick Watts and Ed Stening, about reviving a 2000-year-old functional beverage for the modern healthy lifestyle.

From the big deals to the quiet divestments, Food & Drink Business editor, Kim Berry, recounts the mergers and acquisitions of 2025.
