Jet Technologies has acquired laminating film supplier PacFilm from Ferrostaal Australia, which has sold the film unit to concentrate on its core equipment range.

Effective from 11 October, all PacFilm inventories have been shipped into Jet Technologies’ warehouses and Jet's product manager for print and finishing, Crissy Maddocks, will now oversee the business.

For Maddocks, who joined Jet in April this year (packagingnews.com.au, 4 May), the new appointment marks her return to the helm of a company she founded.

PacFilm was established in 2004 to import and support BOPP, PET, cello-glaze and other laminating films in rolls and pouches. It became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ferrostaal in 2009 when Maddocks sold the business and joined Ferrostaal.

“It’s great to be reunited with the PacFilm range because I am so familiar with the products and their performance,” Maddocks said.

“They fit perfectly with Jet Technologies’ range... With the addition of PacFilm, I believe that Jet Technologies now has Australia and New Zealand’s widest range of hot and cold laminating films, for any application.”

Jet Technologies director Jack Malki said negotiations with Ferrostaal for the company were conducted professionally and amicably.

“Restructuring at Ferrostaal, to focus on core equipment, made this possible and I would like to extend my thanks to Ferrostaal’s management for the professional way in which the change-over has been handled, causing minimal or zero inconvenience to customers,” he said.

Food & Drink Business

A lot of food and beverage brands look strong when they’re small. They have one product, one pack, one clear idea and then they grow. That’s usually when things start to unravel, not all at once, but quickly enough to matter. The Creative Method founder and creative director, Tony Ibbotson, explains why – and growth is not the problem.

Victorian-based Aquafab has completed a $620,000 Series A raise through Birchal, supported by over 300 investors. The company told Food & Drink Business that the funds will support continued national growth and plans in place to enter the US and UK markets this year.

Rumin8 is accelerating its methane reducing feed additive commercialisation progress in New Zealand, garnering $4.4 million (US$3 million) in investment as the company prepares to enter the final trial process.
