Schawk Australia has joined forces with software company GMG and imaging specialist Kayell Australia in a bid to standardise global colour on packaging.

Schawk, the local arm of brand expert SGK Inc, believed the partnership would standardise local colour roofing capabilities, aligning it with a global proofing strategy.

Kayell will work with Schawk to launch new GMG colour management software in four new Epson PSeries proofing devices at Schawk’s North Sydney headquarters.

Schawk Australia operations manager Ryan Sharratt says Schawk will use the latest version of GMG FlexoProof software on its three new Epson PSeries 9070 and one new P7070 proofer.

Kayell director Andreas Johansson said the standardising on GMG would allow Schawk to provide a consistent colour in packaging branding internationally.

“What they have done with GMG Open Colour is they have worked backwards,” he said.

“They have looked at the press and come up with the algorithms.

“The ability to calculate the behaviour of overprinting spot colours will save valuable press runs, meaning new brand colours can be brought to market quickly, economically and most importantly with insane accuracy.”
