Queensland's growing food manufacturing industry will be the focus of a new trade event in June.

Run by Diversified Communications, Foodtech Queensland 2016 will showcase technology and new developments from food and drink packaging suppliers specialising in food packaging, labelling, canning and barcoding.

Held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 26 to 28 June, the show will focus specifically on the state’s strongest food manufacturing categories and will serve to connect businesses in these areas with new technology and ideas.

Over the last decade, the Queensland economy has outperformed that of other Australian states and is forecast to grow by more than 60 per cent before 2031, according to The Australian Food & Grocery Council’s State of the Industry Report 2015.

The state is known for producing high-quality, safe, clean and green food at competitive prices.

Queensland grows one-third of the country’s produce, is the nation’s primary beef producer, and is fast becoming a hub for beverage production.

“The Queensland food sector relies heavily on technology and new technological developments, and staying on top of trends and technological advances is crucial to sustaining business and remaining competitive here and globally,” event director Peter Petherick said.

Food manufacturers in based in Northern NSW will also be invited to the event.

The show floor is zoned into areas of Processing, Ingredients, Packaging, Plant Equipment, and Science and Technology.

Over 3000 visitors are expected to attend Foodtech Queensland, and there will be over 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest processing machinery, ingredients, additives, packaging, and a range of ancillary products for food manufacturers.

Exhibitors already confirmed include key players like Thompson Meat Machinery, Multivac, Matthews, Wiley & Co, Insignia, Vegmag, Naturex Ingredients and CBS Food Tech.
