Following on from its acquisition earlier this year of three Amcor Flexibles plants in Victoria and NSW, the Integrated Packaging Group (IPG) has announced it will cease manufacturing at its Cheltenham, Victoria, site.

IPG in February announced the completion of its acquisition of the business and assets of the Amcor Flexibles Packaging Plants in Cheltenham and Chester Hill and Kirrawee in NSW.

The plants produced plain and printed polyethylene products including printed industrial bags, shrink film, and PVC food film.

In a statement this week, IPG chief executive John Cerini said manufacturing at the Cheltenham site will be phased out over the coming months.

He said that after closure of the plant the company would retain a distribution centre at the site, however.

When it announced its purchase of the three Amcor sites earlier this year, IPG said it would formulate a 100 day plan to integrate the businesses with its existing operations.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) says it won’t oppose Lactalis’ proposed acquisition of Fonterra’s consumer and food service businesses, if the bid goes ahead. While it would see two of the largest buyers of raw milk combine, the ACCC says it is “unlikely” to result in a lessening of competition.
