Beer giant Heineken has worked with Ball Packaging Europe to develop a can with grooved edges around its body.

The look is distinctive and consumers can enjoy both a tactile experience and a stable grip.

Heineken has also been busy developing a bottle that delivers extra-cold beer.

It allows the content of the bottle to be chilled to a drinkable temperature of 0°C in consumers’ freezers within 15 minutes of transfer from the fridge section.

The bottles are made from ultra-resistant PET, which allows the beer to remain liquid at sub-zero freezer temperatures.

If the cooling process is started from room temperature, the bottles take up to 50 minutes to reach 0°C. The iconic Heineken star glows red when it has reached the optimum temperature.
