FoodTech Qld will open in Brisbane with a line-up of exhibitors and industry speakers this month.

Running for three days from 26-28 June, it will cater to the food manufacturing and packaging industries with seminars from packaging solutions companies such as Sealed Air.

The company's sector manager (marketing) Alan Adams will lead a seminar focused on the next generation of case-ready packaging within Australia.

With changes being made in the landscape of the retail sector driven by mega trends, urbanisation, and climate change, there is a growing need for packaging concepts that adhere to consumer demand and drive greater levels of resource conservation.

In this seminar, Adams will review the new forms of packaging on-shelf, along with recent developments in Australia’s fresh meat cases, with the industry moving away from overwrap in store-produced packs and towards the use of Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) solutions.

New and innovative products will also be on display from leaders in the manufacturing industry such as Multivac.

Its team will showcase the R105 MF model that has been tailored for MultiFresh vacuum skin packaging and will demonstrate the production of vacuum and MAP packaging as an equipment option.

With continued growth in Queensland’s food manufacturing and more specifically the packaging industry, FoodTech Queensland will offer further industry support to the state, providing the opportunity to learn from industry experts and look at new manufacturing technology.

Advanced biomanufacturer, Cauldron Ferm, has raised $13.25 million in a Series A2 priced round led by Main Sequence Ventures, with participation from Horizons Ventures, SOSV, and NGS Super.

Global consumer goods business, Unilever, has confirmed it is in discussions with McCormick & Co on the sale of its Food business. Both companies have released statements saying while negotiations are ongoing there is no certainty of a deal.

Australian organisations could gain access to the world’s largest pooled research fund by early 2027, as the federal government begins treaty negotiations on association to Horizon Europe, the European Union’s $155 billion flagship research and innovation funding program.
