Would a packer-palletiser combo be a more efficient, cost-saving solution? Find out at interpack.

Every company in the world  is looking to optimise production output efficiencies and cost reductions with new automation. Australian and New Zealand companies are no different. It's a competitive world downunder too. And for many companies in the southern hemisphere, an unrelenting challenge is limited space.

At interpack 2014, Mespic/Imball and Esko will be exhibiting a packer/palletiser All in One - Combo solution.

The application it is showing will handle round lidded plastic tubs, will group and pack containers into a pre-erected shelf ready carton (starting from a flat blank), glue close, apply outer label, and then palletise...

...All with a packaging/palletising speed of up to 20 cartons/min, depending on the final packing format. And a camera vision system for label or lid in place detection is integrated into its make-up.

The solution adapts for rigid can/jars, plastic containers, closed cartons, multipacks or cluster packs, flexible pouches, tetra paks, thermoformed sealed cups and many other types of packaging. These packaging and palletising solutions are primarily for the food industry. But their viability is not limited to this sector.

High speed (up to 45cpm) versions are available.

Representatives from both Esko Australia and Mespic/Imball will be on the stand, B30 in Hall 14, through the entire exhibition to discuss and respond to individual needs.

Food & Drink Business

A lot of food and beverage brands look strong when they’re small. They have one product, one pack, one clear idea and then they grow. That’s usually when things start to unravel, not all at once, but quickly enough to matter. The Creative Method founder and creative director, Tony Ibbotson, explains why – and growth is not the problem.

Victorian-based Aquafab has completed a $620,000 Series A raise through Birchal, supported by over 300 investors. The company told Food & Drink Business that the funds will support continued national growth and plans in place to enter the US and UK markets this year.

Rumin8 is accelerating its methane reducing feed additive commercialisation progress in New Zealand, garnering $4.4 million (US$3 million) in investment as the company prepares to enter the final trial process.
