Icon Equipment is one of Australia’s liquid filling specialists. And with Murray Goulburn undergoing a vast expansion program this year, the company has been inordinately busy.

That’s good news for you. At Foodpro, Icon will demonstrate a lot of learning and a lot of expertise that may help your business grow and develop too.

If you’re a regular PKN reader, you will have heard of Serac’s Roll N Blow bottle forming machine already.

At Foodpro you can learn from Icon more about how it works. The machine forms bottles of sizes between 100ml and 500ml and is designed to integrate directly with a liquid filler. The solution uses rolls of either polystyrene or polypropylene to form the sheet into a pipe before heating and blow forming the bottle in a mould.

The formed bottles show no difference to conventionally blown bottles, but are not limited to designs with large necks and can even be shaped totally round. The formed bottles also show a better resistance to vertical compression.

The Serac Roll N Blow solution was originally designed for chilled dairy products, but with the use of polypropylene packaging material, it is also a solution for aseptic filling, hot filling, retorting and microwavable packaging. It requires a relatively small footprint compared with blow forming, and raw material storage tanks and bottle unscramblers are not needed.

With the use of pre-printed film, neither labelling nor sleeving processes are required.

Icon will also show Serac's Nova stand-alone food dosing systems. These are able to be fitted to existing dairy desert filling lines, or supplied as a complete cup forming and dosing solution and can add up to five alternate layers of product.

Yoghurt or custard and fruit purees of differing chunk size (up to 10mm x 10mm x10mm) and texture may be layered, for example.

And Nova systems may be retro-fitted to existing lines that produce preformed cups, form fill seal cups, trays, tubs or pouches.

Lastly, you might just like to ask questions that have been igniting your curiosity with the company that has useful answers - about empty bottle handling, bottle unscrambling, bottle capping and all related liquid filling activities. Icon has a range of innovative fully automatic empty bottle unloading and de-bagging solutions.
