No one wants metal in their food.

Metal contaminants can cost you a contract or even cause a law suit. A&D Weighing’s range of metal detectors can find metal contaminants smaller than 1mm. With quality control and reporting demands becoming increasingly stringent for manufacturers and growers, metal detectors are becoming an essential component of production lines in food, chemical and pharmaceutical processing plants.

A&D’s EZI-Check range, which will be on show at Foodpro, includes a new in-line metal detector for detecting contaminants in packaged products: bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, satchels, trays and tubes. It is Japanese designed to provide an exceptional level of performance, accuracy and reliability, and the compact frame ensures minimal factory space is taken up.

And it is affordable for small and medium businesses.

Its features include:

·       Protected from dust and water (IP65 Standards)

·       Hygenic design: can be operated in a wet environment and washed down after use

·       Automatic sensitivity setting function

·       Easy operation with 7 inch colour touch panel

·       Variable belt speed of 10-60m/min

·       Standard ethernet i/o allowing easy networking via LAN

·       Inspection history function can record up to 100 inspection results

·       Maintenance and cleaning is simple with detachable conveyor belt.

A&D tested the system at an Australisian pasta manufacturer. Check out the results here:

Food & Drink Business

A lot of food and beverage brands look strong when they’re small. They have one product, one pack, one clear idea and then they grow. That’s usually when things start to unravel, not all at once, but quickly enough to matter. The Creative Method founder and creative director, Tony Ibbotson, explains why – and growth is not the problem.

Victorian-based Aquafab has completed a $620,000 Series A raise through Birchal, supported by over 300 investors. The company told Food & Drink Business that the funds will support continued national growth and plans in place to enter the US and UK markets this year.

Rumin8 is accelerating its methane reducing feed additive commercialisation progress in New Zealand, garnering $4.4 million (US$3 million) in investment as the company prepares to enter the final trial process.
