Packaging designers have two weeks left to enter the 2016 Good Design Awards, with entries closing on 15 April.

Managed by Good Design Australia, the annual program rewards excellence in design, innovation and creativity at a national and international level.

Last year's overall winner in packaging design was the Lumio Lamp.

Its designer packaged all product components into a small recyclable box, leaving no unused space inside the packaging.

The compact packaging provides an intuitive user experience and communicated the brand's identity while remaining clean, simple and sustainable.

Other winners included an openable board carton for the airline industry, an eco-friendly downlight-in-a-bag, and the SunSmudg compact reusable sunscreen applicator.

Finalists will be featured in the Good Design Showcase which is located in the heart of Vivid Sydney at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

The two-day event will be open to the general public, and more than 1.7 million people are expected to attend Vivid Sydney in 2015 alone.
