Riggs Autopack, a UK company represented in Oceania by HBM Packaging Technologies, has installed a depositor for a traditional ice cream manufacturer.

Riggs Autopack specialises in volumetric depositors and filling machines, transfer pumps, and conveyor filling lines, and worked with the manufacturer, Granny Gothards of Somerset Levels, to improve its production processes.

Riggs suggested a machine which could efficiently fill its ice cream into pots because the company's hand-filling process had been time-consuming and labour intensive.

Its depositor was effective, quick and accurate, and could handle the ice cream with large, delicate inclusions. As a result, the potted product has retained its hand-filled look.

Business owner Amanda Stansfield said her team can now confidently take on more orders for small pots due to the extra capacity the depositor has given them.

“Since using the machine we've been able to supply an independent cinema chain, theatres, a private airline, and more retail outlets," she said.

Riggs' semi-automatic and automatic depositors are also suitable for dosing hot and cold liquid, semi-liquid, and suspended solid goods. They deposit a range of ready-meal products such as stews, mashed potato, casseroles and curries, as well as fragile vegetables and cooked meats in sauce.
