Former Avery Dennison executive David Martin will replace Andy Preece as the new CEO of paper merchant Spicers.

Spicers chairman Robert Kaye said Martin had to the “right fit of skills and experience” to lead its Australian, New Zealand and Asian businesses.

“Under his leadership we're confident Spicers will be able to secure the revenue streams of its core commercial print segment while developing its diversified segments, including identification of new markets and acquisition opportunities,” Kaye said.

The announcement follows an extensive executive search by the company following the resignation of Preece earlier this year.

Martin joins Spicers – formerly PaperlinX – after a long career with Avery Dennison, a NYSE listed multinational that provides materials and solutions in the packaging, label, reflective and graphics markets.

During his 23 years at Avery Dennison, he managed divisions across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the US.
