Coca-Cola Amatil New Zealand has opened a 10,000 square metre manufacturing plant to produce and bottle its Keri juice range as well as other brands.

The plant is based at the Landing Business Park near Auckland Airport and is expected to produce 800,000 bottles per day.

The company says the manufacturing lines will offer improved environmental performance, and innovative packaging designs are expected to emerge.

The opening coincides with a call in New Zealand for sugary drinks to follow the path of tobacco by using plain packaging and warning labels.

Other than Keri juice, the plant will serve brands such as Powerade, Fuze Tea, and Glaceau.
