Packaging and coatings solutions company Coveris Holdings has acquired the New Zealand-based Elldex Packaging Solutions, enabling it to expand globally into Australasia.

Coveris partners with a range of brands to manufacture and distribute packaging solutions and coated film technologies for food, medical and technology sectors. It specialises in procurement, extrusion, printing, converting, lamination, molding, thermoforming and coating.

Elldex is a full-service flexible packaging company which manufactures and imports HDPE and LDPE flexible plastic packaging. It has more than 125 employees and provides products that serve the meat, dairy, seafood, horticulture and agricultural sectors.

Coveris CEO Gary Masse said he was very pleased about the acquisition.

"As the global demand for our products continues to increase, Elldex will allow us to serve our customers in this important region of the world," he said.

General manager of Elldex Murray Hine said the fit was ideal.

“We are pleased to be part of this growing packaging company," he said.

Elldex was previously owned by Hellaby Holdings Ltd and is based in Auckland and Christchurch.
