Instead of a traditional Christmas party, over 160 members of Australia's packaging, processing machinery and supply chain and logistics associations spent a day packing a record 1250 hampers for Foodbank to distribute to those in need.

Representatives from the Australian Institute of Packaging, Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association, The Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia and the Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Conference substituted their usual festivities with a more charitable cause.

The Foodbank Hampers project is the culmination of 12 months of work, whereby over $140,000 worth of goods was raised to fill the hampers.

The 2015 hampers were worth over $120 each and were made up of food and personal hygiene products.

This year, 350 women's packs were added, with a value of $30,000 and 100 homewares packs donated by Sizzler.

In six years the Australian Institute of Packaging, in conjunction with the APPMA, SCLAA, and the QSCLC, have packed 4450 hampers to the value of over $541,000.

The APPMA, Blackmores, Collins Food Group, Kimberly Clark, Colgate, OfficeMax, Sizzlers, BDO, Stanwell Corporation, TAE, All Purpose Transport, Linde, Department of Public Housing & Works each helped provide goods and funds for the hampers.
