Cardia's new Biohybrid bag-in-bag water packaging replaces traditional rigid plastic bulk water bottles. That's good news for everyone involved in supplying, delivering and receiving drinking water for workplace coolers. The environment thanks Cardia too.

The global bottled water market has undergone remarkable growth, much of it driven by water for coolers and other bulk formats. In 2012, retail sales of bottled water in Canada reached 2.3 billion litres, while value grew 3% to reach C$2.3 billion. Bottled water sales in Australia generated A$1.4 billion in 2012, an increase of just over 3% in current value terms compared to the previous year.

The Asian/Australasian region is second only to Western Europe in terms of volume consumption and is the fastest growth region across the globe. A water bag solution is an idea whose time has come.

And early uptakers, Australian BOS Water and Canadian Yukon Spring, have already launched their "Bag-of-Spring Water" products using Cardia Biohybrid packaging, in the Australian and Canadian markets respectively.

Meat & Livestock Australia says its latest research by CSIRO shows the Australian red meat and livestock industry has reduced its net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 78 per cent since 2005.

In its latest export report, Wine Australia says the industry has had a “relatively stable period” in the last 12 months, recording a 1 per cent drop in value and 2 per cent drop in volume to March.

With this year’s federal budget 12 days away, industry minister Ed Husic says grant applications are now open for the $392 million Industry Growth Program (IGP) that was announced in last year’s budget.
