A Melbourne-based containers company is about to launch a packaging solution for online grocery deliveries.

ICEE Containers is best known for its extrusion and airpop moulding techniques, and will launch the ICEE Folding Box at the Online Retailer Show in Sydney this month.

The box is the result of several years of research and development of a process which forms an integrated hinge in an airpop product during the moulding cycle.

It is designed to keep food products at their optimal temperature, from seafood through to vegetables and dinner meal kits.

The box and inserts are moulded on the one die, and the one box has over 12 different configurations.

Groceries are packed in separate compartments, so meat and seafood are stored in a separate section to dairy and fresh produce.

One side of the box is the Chill Chest, which has a thicker wall for added insulation for frozen goods and seafood.

The box is delivered security-sealed, and folds flat for easy storage until the next delivery cycle for reuse or recycling.

The driver can then store the box flat in the vehicle, with no disadvantages, as he can pick up more boxes than he left with.

The ICEE Folding airpop Box is 98 per cent air and 100 per cent recyclable, and is both light and weatherproof.

The Online Retailer Show will run from 20-21 July at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion.
