The role of innovation in driving packaging excellence will be the theme for next year's Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) biennial national conference.

The AIP has announced the conference will be held on 17-18 June at the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel in Sydney.

With the program currently in the planning stages, the Institute is now calling for papers from speakers across all facets of the packaging industry.

Individuals and companies interested in presenting to the event are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration, under the theme Packaging and Innovation Excellence, by 13 December.

In order to deliver a broad range of presentations of interest to a wider audience of packaging industry professionals, the AIP also said it would break from tradition in its program schedule.

Apart from the opening and keynote presentations, the AIP said it intends to split the conference predominantly into breakout sessions to ensure that a diverse range of issues and topics are covered over the two days.

To access the call for papers, log on to www.aipack.com.au and go to the conference section, or email info@aipack.com.au.

Companies interested in exhibiting at or being a partner of the conference should email info@aipack.com.au for a partner’s kit

Food & Drink Business

A lot of food and beverage brands look strong when they’re small. They have one product, one pack, one clear idea and then they grow. That’s usually when things start to unravel, not all at once, but quickly enough to matter. The Creative Method founder and creative director, Tony Ibbotson, explains why – and growth is not the problem.

Victorian-based Aquafab has completed a $620,000 Series A raise through Birchal, supported by over 300 investors. The company told Food & Drink Business that the funds will support continued national growth and plans in place to enter the US and UK markets this year.

Rumin8 is accelerating its methane reducing feed additive commercialisation progress in New Zealand, garnering $4.4 million (US$3 million) in investment as the company prepares to enter the final trial process.
