BOPP films producer Innovia Films has added an easy-open food packaging film to its range.

Called Propafilm RCP, the film is now available in 52 and 60 microns and includes heavy duty, high-barrier and snap-wrap options.

With this product, consumers of all ages and abilities can simply peel open the seals to reveal the product inside.

No excessive force is required, and there is no need for scissors or sharp implements.

The film's seal strength is consistent, according to the company, and it can be used on existing packaging machines without any adjustments required.

Product spillage is reduced as the film provides a reliable, neat opening which also allows for resealing.

“Brand owners are waking up to the fact that easy-open is becoming a major purchase consideration for consumers, especially those with reduced dexterity," Amaia Cowan, Innovia Films’ product manager, says.

Propafilm RCP films have an acrylic coating which ensures a broad sealing range and enables a wide packaging operating window and good machinability in all standard formats: flow wrap, vertical form seal or overwrap.

The films' moisture and aroma barrier properties make them suitable for preserving dried and chocolate-based products.
