Leading cosmeceutical skincare company Synergie Skin has had a fresh brand makeover, and is introducing eco-friendly alternatives to its varnish, inks and bubble wrap.

For Terri Vinson, Synergie Skin’s founder and formulator, and Clean Science pioneer, making sustainable and responsible decisions that will reduce the company’s long-term carbon footprint is fundamental to her business strategy.

Vinson says that in addition to introducing a sophisticated new look to the brand’s packaging, logo, fonts and colours, the brand’s outer packaging and labels are now printed using aqueous vegetable-based inks and finished with a new, recyclable varnish. The bubble wrap used for product protection has been replaced with renewable Ranpak Kraft paper.

She explains that the decision to use aqueous vegetable-based inks on Synergie Skin packaging and labels ensures that all its packaging is now 100 per cent recyclable.

“Many people are unaware that traditional laminate varnishes render labels on skincare bottles unrecyclable due to the plastic overcoat. Aqueous-based inks are non-toxic and therefore don’t require a laminate to prevent the ink from being transferred,” says Vinson.

The transition to a full rebrand will take place over 8-12 months, starting with new products, new formulas, and best sellers. This gradual process is in place to avoid wastage of existing stock on hand, thereby committing to a fully sustainable methodology.

“After researching the science and listening to my customers, it’s clear to me that being a more sustainable business is simply the way of the future. Having all operations under the one roof means Synergie Skin can implement positive change quickly,” says Vinson.

At the heart of Synergie Skin is Vinson's Clean Science philosophy and commitment to marrying the best of laboratory-synthesised ingredients with the best naturally derived ingredients to create effective, clean skincare, free from questionable ingredients.
