Pneumatics and automation specialist SMC has partnered with the Ethercat Technology Group (ETG) for a seminar series on ethernet for control automation technology (Ethercat).

ETG is an association in which key users from various industries and automation suppliers join forces to support, promote and advance Ethercat, which is an ethernet-based fieldbus system which can be used for computing requirements in automation technology.

The seminars will take place on 11, 13, and 14 February in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, respectively.

Jozef Ceh, digital transformation leader for SMC Corporation ANZ, said supporting events such as this is vital to the industry.

“SMC has developed various Ethercat-compatible fieldbus systems over the years, and this remains a prominent communication protocol in the industry,” he said.

“These Ethercat specific events allow users to connect, tackle common automation issues and address the future of this Ethernet-based fieldbus systems.”

Ceh said education to further drive productivity and efficiencies is important. “Understanding Ethercat’s full capabilities and limitations allows users to get the most out of their applications,” he said.

Founded in 2003, ETG has more than 5650 members in 66 countries.

SMC operates in 83 countries and employs 19,000 people around the world. SMC offers more than 12,000 basic products with more than 700,000 variations.

The International Alliance for Responsible Drinking has accelerated its plans to reduce harmful drinking – partnering leading global beer, wine and spirits producers with advertising, public relations, and influencer agencies to ensure alcohol marketing is clearly recognised, responsibly advertised, and aimed at an audience over the legal purchase age.

A new online store, Just a Crumb, has launched to support Australian bakeries in reducing food waste – offering consumers cake offcuts and leftover treats that might otherwise go to waste, delivered to the door.

As the Australian functional beverage market continues to grow, emerging companies are still finding places to slot in. Alcohol recovery drink, Dodge, hit stores in mid-2022, and has taken off across the Asia-Pacific region with its science-backed formula and striking branding. Food & Drink Business spoke with co-founder, Braeden Leahy, about the product and plans for the future.
