Melbourne’s packaging and processing scene got a fresh burst of energy as the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) launched its Next Gen Networking Night, described as a "resounding success".

With over 40 up-and-coming industry stars in the room, the vibe was equal parts buzzing and welcoming.

"We launched this initiative because the future of our industry isn’t just about tech and trends, it’s about the people," said Denni Egan, APPMA’s events and marketing manager.

"We wanted to create a space where emerging leaders can connect, share ideas, and build relationships that’ll shape the industry for years to come. And judging by the turnout, mission accomplished."

The event had some APPMA star power too, with directors Rosanne Jessop (vice-chair) and Matt Nichol (board member) on hand to welcome the next generation and share in the excitement.

“There was no awkward small talk here, thanks to our networking bingo game, which had attendees laughing and connecting like old mates,” Egan added.

“The crowd was absolutely hooked as three-time Olympian Brooke Buschkuehl shared her incredible journey – from chasing Olympic dreams to navigating motherhood and redefining success. Her honest, relatable stories about resilience, community, and adapting to change had everyone nodding along.

“The professional headshot station was also a major hit. Between those, the great conversations, and the stellar venue vibes, the night flew by.”

And, considering the positive feedback it got from attendees, the association said that this is only the beginning, and it is “already cooking up the next Melbourne gathering before taking this show nationwide”.
