The Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) has forged a strategic partnership with Intellect Labs, a leading boutique advisory firm specialising in non-dilutive funding, which is designed to equip APPMA members with the expert guidance needed to navigate the complex landscape of government grants and incentives, accelerating innovation and growth across the sector.

Michael Moran, CEO of APPMA, said APPMA members are extremely busy running their businesses, which limits their time to keep abreast of the ever-changing world of government grants and incentives.

“The partnership with Intellect labs will enable members to quickly and easily identity and explore possible government grant and incentive opportunities that may be relevant to their business,” explained Moran.

The alliance brings together APPMA’s influential industry network and Intellect Labs’ deep expertise in securing funding for manufacturers.

“We partnered with APPMA because it brings together Australia’s processing and packaging manufacturers, OEMs and integrators,” said Shaun van Dijk, co-founder and principal of Intellect Labs.

“This collaboration allows us to connect with a leading industry body and efficiently share our specialist knowledge of government funding programs with the members who need it most.”

Through this partnership, Intellect Labs aims to deepen its connection with the heart of Australian manufacturing.

“We are seeking to establish strong relationships with Australian processing and packaging manufacturers,” van Dijk added.

“This will deepen our sector insight and allow us to help operators turn policy shifts into first-mover advantages by improving their knowledge of, and ability to access, non-dilutive government funding.”

Tangible benefits for APPMA members

The partnership is firmly focused on delivering tangible value to APPMA members, with Intellect Labs offering a comprehensive service suite tailored to the manufacturing lifecycle, including R&D Tax Incentive advisory, grant strategy, collaboration management, and IP advisory.

“We can help APPMA members identify and secure government funding to support continued innovation, improved sustainability, and projects that drive Australia's sovereign manufacturing capabilities,” van Dijk said.

“Acting as an extension of a member’s team, we help map available grants and provide strategic advice on securing and managing these opportunities.”

This support will be delivered through multiple channels, including dedicated workshops, insightful articles, grant opportunity alerts, and direct engagement, ensuring members stay ‘grant-ready’ in a dynamic funding environment.

Empowering innovation and competitiveness

For manufacturers, accessing grant funding and incentives is a critical strategy for boosting productivity, accelerating commercialisation, and unlocking capital for growth.

The current funding landscape offers significant opportunities – from programs supporting initial research and new equipment to large-scale decarbonisation and commercialisation projects.

“The grant funding landscape presents substantial opportunities across all stages of a manufacturer’s growth,” said Moran.

“Partnering with Intellect Labs provides our members with a direct pathway to specialist advice, helping them act swiftly and competitively when opportunities emerge. This is about empowering our members to invest with confidence in their future.”

This partnership underscores APPMA’s commitment to providing members with the tools and partnerships necessary to thrive, ensuring the Australian packaging and processing sector remains at the forefront of innovation and global competitiveness.
