Gravure Packaging and Fuzed took out a trio of Golds at Pride in Print, the annual New Zealand printing awards, sending them to the top of the leaderboard as the only companies to win three Golds.

Golds in the Gravure, Flexible Packaging, and the Industry Creativity categories were all awarded to Gravure Packaging. Meanwhile Fuzed – formerly Kingsland Print – took Gold in Rigid Packaging, Sign & Display, and Lenticular.

Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific Christchurch took Gold in the Flexographic category for its Coles Mayan Gold Potatoes 1kg, while Rapid Labels came out on top in the Labels category for its Tortoise and The Hare wine label.

A total 16 local printers won the prestigious gongs, which came in 23 categories, and were awarded in a glittering ceremony at the TSB Arena in Wellington. The 2019 Pride In Print Awards saw 600 attendees, many still on the dance floor at the close of the night, celebrating the biggest event in the New Zealand print calendar.

Pride in Print awards manager Sue Archibald said, "Feedback to date has been positive, with many saying best yet. Any one of the category contenders would have been worthy winner of the Supreme Award."

Food & Drink Business

Fonterra has announced Anna Palairet is the new chief operating officer, having acted in the role since June 2023. CEO Miles Hurrell says Palairet has “extensive experience in operational, customer, sustainability, and sales roles”.

Food & Drink Business editor Kim Berry's take on the big news stories this week, and what caught her eye overseas. How will the Future Made in Australia Act actually be delivered? Shanghai trials traffic light labelling, and Solar Food, making protein out of (virtually) nothing at all, opens its commercial scale facility (that's it in the pic).

Food Frontier’s industry leading annual alternative proteins conference, AltProteins 24, is on in Melbourne on 10 October, with early bird tickets now available.
