Robotic and automated packaging company HMPS has been recognised for its contribution to the South Australian food industry.

Based in South Australia, HMPS received the Stephen Moore Service Provider Award from FOOD SA last week for its work in designing, developing and manufacturing machinery for packaging processes.

Owner Mark Emmett said teamwork and creativity were both important to the company.

“We come up with creative solutions and solve problems by having conversations, getting practical, and trying out ideas," he said.

"It's sort of like kids playing with meccano sets until they find the most perfect solution to the automation challenge.

"Each person takes pride in their work because they are creating and crafting – from one idea it is nurtured into drawings, animations, steel frames, conveyor systems, pneumatic circuits, control panels... until finally you have a product that moves at lightning speed and is packing products in all sizes and formations into cartons."
