Wine company Taylors has released a six-litre artisan cabinet for one of its varieties.

Made to display The Pioneer Shiraz 2012, which was first launched in May 2015, the collector’s cabinet will be available for a recommended retail price of AU$8000.

The bespoke cabinets were handmade and designed in consultation with Andrew Bartlett, a furniture designer based in Adelaide.

Considered to be “ultra-premium packaging”, the latest version follows a series of 10 cabinets, also designed by Bartlett, which have nearly all been sold.

Those who purchase the cabinet will receive an email direct from Mitchell Taylor which gives them an open forum to ask questions about their wine purchase.

Each cabinet is made from a single piece of hard-to-source Tasmanian Blackheart Sassafras.

Brass finishings and fixtures are used throughout, complete with an individual Spanish-made locking system to secure the cabinet for storage.

The external sides of the cabinet are then adorned with polished brass plates.

Inside the cabinet, the grand six-litre bottle is secured with a wooden base and neck holder, along with a handmade kangaroo leather fastener, ensuring the bottle is held in place whether the cabinet is standing on display or lying flat.
