Soltera Rum has introduced new packaging across its entire range, with a focus on tactile textures, local narratives and functionality.

The stock used is Bright White Felt from Ball & Doggett, and was selected for its distinctive texture and 30 per cent post-consumer recycled content. It is FSC certified (C102086). The labels were printed by Label Plus in Queensland. Bottles are sourced from Saverglass in France, chosen for their durability and reuse potential, with minimal finishes applied to reduce production costs. The Special Cask expression features foil detailing to distinguish it within the portfolio.

The redesign is created by Studio Guild and it applies to all three products in the Soltera range. It features bespoke illustrations, including imagery of pandanus from Cabarita Beach, along with banksia and wattle. The label shape is designed to simplify the manual production process, with space included for batch numbers to be handwritten.

Founder and distiller Keri Algar said the new packaging was developed to engage a broader audience, while maintaining the brand’s local identity. “I’d been in operation for four years, so it felt a little early to rebrand,” Algar said. “The branding was popular, but it was very feminine, and I felt it was alienating a wider market that was important to reach.”

Trish Dunstone, creative director at Studio Guild, said the label reflects Algar’s personality and ties to the Cabarita Beach community. “We wanted people to feel her story in the design, in every illustration and tactile detail,” Dunstone said.

Algar, who produces, bottles and labels each product herself at her distillery in northern New South Wales, said the process of developing the packaging was collaborative. “Studio Guild took time to research every detail, the product, the brand, the community, they even investigated my small town Cabarita, some details they discovered inspired the label design.”

Soltera products are available online and through selected independent retailers.
