Hungry Jacks has developed a creative packaging solution which repels seagulls from its hot chips.

The limited edition Pack That Scares Gulls (PTSG) chip packet, which coincides with the launch of its new thicker chip, is made from a silver reflective material which also features an eye-catching design.

It allows the sun to reflect off the pack to create an optical distraction that deters seagulls in a harmless way.

Hungry Jacks claims the packaging is a “world first” for quick service restaurants and provides a novel solution to the pesky problem of seagulls in Australia's coastal areas.

Chief marketing officer Scott Baird said the pack was designed in consultation with bird experts.
