Packaging converters and printers Impact International, Detpak Cartons, Pandoras Boxes and Peacock Bros won Gold at the 2020 National Print Awards.

The 37th National Print Awards was live streamed, on the PVCA's Facebook page for the first time in its history, with the coronavirus halting attempts to run a live event. The state PICAs which fed into the NPAs were similarly live streamed two weeks ago.

All Gold award winning work is due to be on display at Parliament House in Canberra for the annual Print2Parliament event, due to take place in October. But, with sitting currently suspended a question mark hangs over the event.

Impact won gold for the second year in a row in the sustainability category at the National Print Awards. Aleks Lajovic, managing director at Impact said, “We socially distanced and had an outdoor dinner to watch the award ceremony. The team at Impact is very proud to be seen as a leader in sustainable manufacturing and printing practices.”

Peacock Bros took Gold in the label printing category, Detpak Cartons in 123Print! (innovation) and Pandoras Boxes in packaging.

Entries are now open for the annual Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards. Open to commercial food producers of all sizes, it is one of the largest programs of its kind. 

Victorian brewery, Bodriggy Brewing Co, is the first brewery in the state to achieve carbon-neutral certification and only the second in Australia to do so. The independent Abbotsford-based brewery achieved certification under the federal government’s Climate Active program.

According to Rabobank data, Australian consumers are facing higher chocolate prices heading into Easter, with retail chocolate prices up 8.8 per cent on the previous year as global cocoa prices soar.
