A Perth brewery is selling takeaway serves of its craft beer by filling and sealing the cans itself fresh from the tap.

The Beerland Brewing’s bespoke brews are produced at Northbridge Brewing Company, and the specially produced 946ml beer cans are called ‘Canimals’.

Customers pay $15 for them to be filled fresh from the tap and sealed over the bar using a machine that creates a seam.

This seam ensures freshness is locked in while oxygen and light are kept out.

Arrowsmith said the new system allowed customers to enjoy the brews after visiting the venue.

“For many good reasons cans are the comeback kids on the packaged beer scene," he said. 

"They keep beer fresh by eliminating UV light, chill more quickly, don’t smash when you drop them, and can be crushed and recycled.”

The Canimals range includes Pale Ale, Kolsch, Wheat, Lager, and IPA.
